Miya Ando

Miya Ando became an artist for the freedom it entailed. Her chosen mediums are  painting, sculpture and installation, and her work is about time. She works part time in Long Island City and part time in Los Angeles. Currently, she’s working on suspended, gossamer “Moonlit Clouds” for Miami this December; inspired by this quote from Zen monk Shunryu Suzuki: “Wherever you are, you are one with the clouds and one with the sun and the stars you see. You are one with everything. That is more true than I can say and more true than you can hear.” Up next, she’s continuing on her series called Kū (Emptiness or Sky) Ge (Flowers). Look for her work in the current exhibitions “The Cathedral” (The Shrine of Trees, The Sisters and The Mother) at the Museum of Art and History (MOAH) Lancaster, California and  “True Colors” at The Nassau County Museum, New York.
