Dale Novella

Becoming a professional artist was always Dale Novella’s dream. Having studied music and poetry her entire life, artistry was simply “A way to communicate to the world my inner thoughts. The music I listened to was always healing to me. Whether it was RnB, Funk, Soul, Hip Hop or Pop.  I wanted to make music that had that effect on people.” A known singer/songwriter, poet and music producer, Dale makes her beats using Logic Pro X, writes her own lyrics and enjoys a good freestyle. Her work reflects the happenings of her daily life, whether that be related to love, work exhaustion, misogyny, or Black women’s empowerment. In addition to her own stuff, Dale produces concerts and open mics in New York City. Her longest running event, The Poet WILL Be Televised, is a monthly Harlem-based poetry and music jam session. As a teaching artist, Novella instructs music and digital media with several social justice organizations in New York. “My greatest artistic challenge is finding time to perfect my work without obsessing over whether its perfect. Sometimes ‘done’ isn’t ‘perfect’ and vice versa.” Currently, she’s working on a covers EP (extended play), a joint project with her partner Mikal Amin aka Hired Gun called Where The Love Is, and an LP (long play) of original songs, instrumentals and poetry. Up next she plans to record as much as possible and finish up the corresponding video projects.
