Meagan Boyd

“I love making art and it’s honestly the only thing I feel like I’m good at,” says Meagan, a masterful  creative who could never hold a day job for long. “Creating art always stuck,” she confirms. Painting primarily on wood or canvas with gouache and acrylic, she is also known to explore other mediums including installation and sculpture at times. Creating new mythologies through visual narratives and dreams is her way of using art to connect with nature, people and animals. In so many words, it is her way of “escaping into a poetic utopic place.” Blessed with a backyard studio in sunny California, a few of her major challenges are finding the time to work (as the parent of a 14-month old) and “turning off the voice in my mind that makes me want to compare myself to artists more ‘successful’ than me.” Right now, she’s finishing up some pieces for a show at La Luz de Jesus Gallery this summer as well as some commissioned family portraits. She dreams of her solo show one day in New York City or having some work in Miami next year during Art Basel.
